Pet Friendly Cottages
Not every holiday cottage provider will be happy to admit dogs but it is worth taking the time to find one who does, even if it isn’t in every property. As well as finding properties that will actually allow pets to stay, keep an eye out for the right amenities and ensure that the cottage is placed in a nice rural area so there’s plenty of space for your four-legged friend to go roaming – after all, dogs deserve a holiday too so if you can take your pet along to somewhere wide open that is full of new and exciting smells your dog will have the time of his life too.
Cornwall, in the south west of England, is a great location for a dog-friendly holiday. As well as having a lovely temperate climate, beautiful scenery, plenty of open space and lots of sandy beaches, it is a charming and in some places quite craggy peninsular which is crammed full of character. There are more than eighty dog friendly beaches across Cornwall, so wherever you choose to stay you’re bound to find a beach nearby where you can take your friend for a run or play some games with local driftwood, sticks and balls. Some beaches restrict access for pets by time of day or year though, and some will ask you to keep your friend on a leash, but letting your dog explore these new locations will still be loads of fun.
There is a coastal footpath up amongst the cliffs which leads to a smattering of hidden local beaches that usually see very few visitors even in the height of summer – fantastic for dogs (and humans too).
