Jamaica Inn

The Jamaica Inn is both a hotel and a museum and is perfect for a visit if you’re holidaying in Looe or Polperro – it’s less than an hour’s drive away. The Jamaica Inn was made famous in author Daphne du Maurier’s book of the same name and stands on Bodmin Moor.

The Jamaica Inn is historically a famous inn for smugglers and is now alleged to also be haunted! The Inn has featured on TV’s Most Haunted. It functions as a hotel for guests, conferences and events, as well as being a museum showcasing artefacts concerned with Daphne du Maurier and also with smuggling.

There’s plenty to do if you stop off at the Jamaica Inn such as have a look around the museum, take in the breathtaking scenery or go on one of the organised ghost walks. There are also regular paranormal investigation nights at the Inn for the very brave. The more faint-hearted could just get a drink in the bar or a meal in the restaurant.

The museum is open from 10am until 5/6pm in summer and 11am until 4pm in winter. Admission is £3.95 for adults and £3.45 for children.
